Above you see the gorgeous QTH in Santana on Madeira Island. Walter, DJ6QT (SK) placed this QTH at
my disposal without any complications in order to take part at the WAG Contest (Worked All Germany) in 2005. I have booked
the summer residence "Casa da Tia Clementina" with the "Olimar" travel agency (via the German motoring organisation ADAC). I
rent a car as well, because it is essential on Madeira Island. The flight was booked with AIR BERLIN from Münster via
Nürnberg to Funchal. The landing was dramatic because the pilot needed 2 attempts due to the "flanged" runway. If you
would like to use the existing antenna equipment you have to ask Walter, DJ6QT beforehand. You will find feeder cables and
any other needed stuff in this nice characteristic Madeira house.
Walter, many thanks for your great assistance!
Here you see the noble summer residence and I set up my station on the first floor left. The house offers several guestrooms,
a large country-specific lounge , a fireside and a playroom in the basement. We spent most of the time almost reclusively in
this house and we felt ourselfs like a"duke"! The treasure of this house was Maria who provided us with food and beer daily.
I recommend the restaurant over the road- great meals and vines!
Here I try to sort all the dipole- and guy wires at the down-winded mast. The beam has a free shot to DL via the Atlantic
Ocean. Super working conditions!
I set-up a vertical GP from Fritzel for 40m as an alternative for the dipole (see the top picture).
At last!
